New Apartment Community Planned Near Lakeline Mall

Austin real estate will be adding many new apartments soon as constuction on a new 680 apartment complex by the North American Properties will begin construction on nearly 46.7 acres that surround the Lakeline Mall in Northwest Austin. The constuction is set to be split down the middle with 340 units, dubbed Lakineline East, breaking ground as early as May.

The second half of the community, Lakeline West, will start construction as the market conditions dictate more need.

Austin Ranked Second Best Place To Buy A Home

Forbes.com recently came out with an article about the best cities in the country for buying a home in right now. The article makes many allusions to the amazingly low mortgage rates, which currently sit just under 4% on a 30-year fixed loan, home prices not having completely recovered from their peak in 2006, and the real issue for investors is the fact that a 10-year treasury note currently only yields a 2% return while rental properties are showing on average a 6.3% return.

According to the article, which you can view in its entirety here, the top 5 best places in America to buy a home right now are:

3. Kansas, MO
2. Austin, TX
1. Tucson, AZ

Out of the top 5 cities, Austin real estate had the highest year-over-year price adjustment at 12% – to $229,500 – while boasting the lowest price drop from peak at 2.9%. Austin also had the lowest median days on market, at 77, just two under Forth Worth, and the capital city also showcased the lowest unemployment rate of the top 5 at 6.1%.

With all the factors provided it is no wonder that Austin is currently second on that list. What the article fails to note, for all cities alike, is the amount of on-going construction throughout Austin that is aimed toward improving the city. As was mentioned in a previous post there are many downtown Austin projects possibly under way.
